Parīkṣit’s Final Absorption, Takṣaka’s Bite, Janamejaya’s Snake Sacrifice, and the Vedic Sound-Lineage
अज्ञानं च निरस्तं मे ज्ञानविज्ञाननिष्ठया । भवता दर्शितं क्षेमं परं भगवत: पदम् ॥ ७ ॥
ajñānaṁ ca nirastaṁ me jñāna-vijñāna-niṣṭhayā bhavatā darśitaṁ kṣemaṁ paraṁ bhagavataḥ padam
あなたは私に、最も吉祥なるもの――主の至高の人格的境地――を示してくださいました。今や私は知識と自己覚知に確立され、無明は根こそぎ払われました。
This verse says ignorance is dispelled by steady realized knowledge (jñāna-vijñāna-niṣṭhā), especially when received through a true spiritual teacher who reveals the Lord’s supreme shelter.
Having heard Śukadeva’s Bhagavata teachings at the end of his life, Parikshit expresses gratitude that the sage’s realized instruction removed his ignorance and revealed the supreme goal—Bhagavan’s transcendental abode/lotus feet.
Study sacred teachings with consistency (jñāna), apply them through devotion and lived practice (vijñāna), and seek guidance from authentic devotees—so spiritual understanding becomes transformative, not merely theoretical.
