Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
śṛtaṁ payasi naivedyaṁ śāly-annaṁ vibhave sati sasarpiḥ saguḍaṁ dattvā juhuyān mūla-vidyayā
This verse recommends offering cooked rice—especially rice cooked in milk and fine śāli rice—when one has the means, and then making oblations with ghee and jaggery while chanting the principal (root) mantra.
He is detailing a proper, traditional method of Viṣṇu worship (connected to Vāmana worship in this chapter), where pure, sattvic offerings and mantra-based oblations are used as part of disciplined devotion.
Offer the best you can according to your capacity—simple, pure food with sincerity—and accompany your worship with steady mantra remembrance rather than mere ritualism.
