Related Themes: Agni Purana 259 (Ayurveda & agnihotra-prayoga for remedies)
It prescribes specific homa applications—using curds and ghee with targeted mantras—to dispel livestock afflictions (paśūpasarga) and to enhance auspicious fortune via the Tryambaka (Mahāmṛtyuñjaya) mantra.
It integrates practical veterinary-style protection (animal disease/affliction management) with mantra-ritual technology (homa, mantra-sets), showing the text’s coverage of applied healing, ritual procedure, and deity-mantra efficacy in one compact instruction.
Performing these homas is presented as both remedial and merit-producing: it protects dependent beings (cattle) from harm and invokes Rudra’s auspicious grace, thereby increasing saubhāgya (prosperity and well-being) for the practitioner/household.
