इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे अलङ्कारे अभिनयादिनिरूपणं नामैकचत्वारिंशदधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः अथ द्विचत्वारिंशदधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः शब्दालङ्काराः अग्निरुचाच स्यादावृत्तिरनुप्रासो वर्णानां पदवाक्ययोः एकवर्णानेकवर्णावृत्तेर्वर्णगुणो द्विधा
ity āgneye mahāpurāṇe alaṅkāre abhinayādinirūpaṇaṃ nāmaikacatvāriṃśadadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ atha dvicatvāriṃśadadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ śabdālaṅkārāḥ agnirucāca syādāvṛttiranuprāso varṇānāṃ padavākyayoḥ ekavarṇānekavarṇāvṛttervarṇaguṇo dvidhā
かくして『アグニ・マハープラーナ』の詩的装飾(アランカーラ)章において、「演技(アビナヤ)および関連事項の叙述」と名づけられた第341章は終わる。ここに第342章「語音(ことばの音)による装飾」が始まる。アグニは説いた。アヌプラ―サ(頭韻)は、語と文における音素(ヴァルナ)の反復(アーヴリッティ)である。単一音素の反復か複数音素の反復かにより、音声の装飾(ヴァルナ・グナ)は二種となる。
