इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे अघोरास्त्रादिशान्तिकल्पे नाम विंशत्यधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः व्यालकाके इति ख अथैकविंशत्यधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः पाशुपतशान्तिः ईश्वर उवाच वक्ष्ये पाशुपतास्त्रेण शान्तिजापादि पूर्वतः पादतःपूर्वनाशो हि फडन्तं चापदादिनुत्
ity āgneye mahāpurāṇe aghorāstrādiśāntikalpe nāma viṃśatyadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ vyālakāke iti kha athaikaviṃśatyadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ pāśupataśāntiḥ īśvara uvāca vakṣye pāśupatāstreṇa śāntijāpādi pūrvataḥ pādataḥpūrvanāśo hi phaḍantaṃ cāpadādinut
かくして『アグニ・マハープラーナ』において、「アゴーラ武器等に関するシャーンティ・カルパ」と題する章は第三百二十章である(ある伝本では「vyāla-kāke」と注記される)。ここに第三百二十一章「パーシュパタ・シャーンティ」が始まる。主は言われた。「パーシュパタの武器真言によって行う鎮静法を、まず鎮静のジャパおよび関連する前行から説こう。実に、障碍の破壊はまず『足』(初段/安置)より成し、末尾に『phaḍ』の叫びを伴う真言は、災厄などを除くために用いられる。」
