FAQs

It gives a precise post-homa procedure: collect the oblation remainder (hutaśeṣa) substance-by-substance and place it into a kumbha, then add a piṇḍa prepared to a fixed standard measure (one prastha).

It functions as a practical ritual manual, preserving operational details (sequence, vessel-use, and standardized measurement) alongside the Purana’s broader coverage of theology and dharma.

Correct containment and measurement of post-offering remnants maintains ritual purity and procedural completeness, supporting the intended merit (puṇya) and efficacy (siddhi) of the rite.
