毒による病は七種あると説かれ、毒が一つの体組織(dhātu)から次の体組織へと到達することによって生ずる。咬傷/毒の部位はまず額へ移り、次いで眼へ至り、その後に安堵が現れる。さらに口から言語の脈道へ達し、順次に諸体組織へと進行する。
