Related Themes: Agni Purana: Dāna-vrata prakaraṇa (general); Agni Purana: Graha-śānti and vāra-vrata related remedies (nearby verses)
It prescribes a remedial dāna: offering salt with gold and an apūpa to a brāhmaṇa, and performing an abhyanga-related gift in connection with Candra, as a rite aimed at removing disease.
It illustrates how the Agni Purāṇa links ritual procedure (dāna and lunar observance) with practical human aims (health and freedom from disease), blending dharma, vrata-vidhi, and wellbeing-oriented remedies.
The verse frames charitable giving—especially to a brāhmaṇa and under lunar auspices—as a purificatory act whose merit (puṇya) is believed to neutralize afflictive karma manifesting as illness.
