puṇyānām api tat puṇyam atra te saṁśayo 'stu mā | etāni rājan puṇyāni pṛthivyāṁ pṛthivīpate ||

Dhaumya said: “Even among holy things, that place is the holiest—let there be no doubt in you about this. O King, O Lord of the earth, these are the sacred places upon the earth. Where the great Yogin, the primordial divine Lord, Bhagavān Madhusūdana abides, that spot is the very sanctity of sanctities. By moving among such tīrthas and āśramas in the company of excellent brāhmaṇas and your fortunate brothers, your grief and restless longing born of separation will be calmed, and your mind will be steadied in dharma.”

Educational Q&A

True sanctity is not merely ritual but contact with the highest divine presence and dharmic environments (tīrthas and āśramas). Such association removes doubt, steadies the mind, and transforms grief into calm through merit, discipline, and devotion.

Dhaumya addresses the king (Yudhiṣṭhira in context) and assures him that certain pilgrimage places are supremely holy—especially where Madhusūdana abides. He encourages continued wandering among tīrthas with brāhmaṇas and brothers so that the pain of separation (notably from Arjuna, per the traditional gloss) will subside.
