yaḥ sa bhūtaṃ bhaviṣyac ca bhavac ca bharatarṣabha | nārāyaṇaḥ prabhur viṣṇuḥ śāśvataḥ puruṣottamaḥ |

Dhaumya said: “O bull among the Bharatas, He whose very being encompasses the past, the future, and the present—Nārāyaṇa, the sovereign Lord Viṣṇu, eternal and the Supreme Person—has His holy, expansive city near the Badarī forest. That place is known as the hermitage of Nara and Nārāyaṇa; the sacred Badarikā-āśrama, famed throughout the three worlds, bestows merit and spiritual uplift.”

Educational Q&A

The verse affirms Nārāyaṇa/Viṣṇu as the eternal Supreme Person who transcends time (past, present, future) and highlights the ethical-spiritual value of pilgrimage and remembrance of the divine: approaching the sacred hermitage of Nara-Nārāyaṇa at Badarikā is portrayed as puṇya-producing and dharma-supporting.

Dhaumya identifies the supreme deity (Nārāyaṇa/Viṣṇu) and points to His celebrated sacred locale near the Badarī forest—Badarikā-āśrama—known as the hermitage of Nara and Nārāyaṇa, renowned across the three worlds for its sanctity and merit-bestowing power.
