Lomaśa’s Counsel and the Resolve for Pilgrimage

Dhaumya said: “O lord, listen with full attention as I speak. O hero, the very act of receiving and engaging with sacred narratives gives rise to auspicious faith.”
Attentive listening to sacred counsel and narratives is itself transformative: receiving such kathā cultivates śraddhā—an auspicious, ethically strengthening faith that supports dharmic conduct.
Dhaumya addresses the king/hero and asks him to listen carefully as he begins a discourse; he frames the forthcoming sacred accounts (especially tīrtha-related narration in this section) as a means to awaken auspicious faith.
