Pulastya’s Instruction

Ghūlastya said: “O lord of kings, from here you should proceed to the excellent sacred ford called Phalakīvana. O king, the gods dwell there continually, and for many thousands of years they remain engaged in intense austerities. O Bhārata, by bathing in the Dṛṣadvatī and offering libations to the gods and the ancestors, a person gains the merit of the Agniṣṭoma and Atirātra sacrifices. O best of the Bharatas, by bathing at the Sarvadeva-tīrtha one obtains the fruit of a thousand gifts of cows. O Bhārata, by bathing at the Pāṇikhāta-tīrtha and satisfying gods and ancestors with offerings, one attains the fruits of the Agniṣṭoma and Atirātra rites; moreover, one gains the merit of the Rājasūya and reaches the world of the seers. “Then, O king of kings, one should go to the supremely excellent Miśraka-tīrtha. There, O king, the great-souled Vyāsa is said to have brought together—especially for the twice-born—the powers of all sacred fords. Whoever bathes at Miśraka, that single bath is regarded as equal to bathing in all tīrthas.”
