Tīrtha-yātrā: Phalaśruti and Sacred Geography from Lohitya to Prayāga

Pulastya’s Instruction

अग्निष्टोमातिरात्रा भ्यां फलं विन्दति भारत | राजसूयमवाप्रोति ऋषिलोक॑ च विन्दति

agniṣṭomātirātrābhyāṁ phalaṁ vindati bhārata | rājasūyam avāpnoti ṛṣilokaṁ ca vindati

O Bhārata, by performing the Agniṣṭoma and Atirātra sacrifices one gains their due spiritual reward; one also attains the merit of the Rājasūya and reaches the world of the Ṛṣis. The statement underscores the Mahābhārata’s ethic that disciplined, properly ordered Vedic rites—when undertaken in accordance with dharma—bear definite fruits and elevate the performer toward higher realms.
