O King, thus addressed by her, Sudeva—the foremost among Brahmins—sat down at ease and began to relate, truthfully and in due order, the full account concerning Damayantī. The scene underscores the ethical weight of accurate testimony: a learned person is expected to speak calmly, clearly, and without distortion when questioned about another’s fate.
