Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: na hi tāṃ veda nāry anyā kācid dhātreyikām ṛte | kanyāpuragatāṃ bālāṃ nipuṇāṃ parirakṣaṇe ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: No other woman knew of her condition, except her nurse. The young girl remained within the maidens’ inner apartments, and she was exceedingly skilled at guarding her secret—concealing it with careful self-control and discretion.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights discretion and self-protection within restrictive social settings: a vulnerable young woman preserves her dignity and safety by carefully guarding a secret, relying only on a trusted caregiver.
The narrator states that no woman other than the nurse knew the girl’s situation; she stayed in the secluded maidens’ quarters and was highly capable of concealing and protecting her secret.
