Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya

ubhe sandhye paṭhennityaṃ nārī vā puruṣo yadi | āp prāpya mucyeta baddho mucyeta bandhanāt ||

Vaiśampāyana said: If a woman or a man regularly recites (this hymn) at both twilight junctions (dawn and dusk), then even upon falling into calamity one is released from it; and one who has been bound is freed from bondage. The verse underscores disciplined daily devotion as a means of protection and liberation in times of danger and constraint.

Educational Q&A

Regular recitation at the two sandhyā-times is presented as a disciplined devotional practice that grants protection in adversity and even release from bondage, emphasizing the transformative power of steady spiritual observance.

Vaiśampāyana states the fruit (phalaśruti) of a particular stotra: anyone—woman or man—who recites it daily at dawn and dusk gains deliverance from calamity and freedom from imprisonment or binding constraints.
