Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Whoever regularly keeps this (hymn/recitation) and whoever repeatedly listens to it obtains the desired result: one who longs for a son gains a son; one who seeks wealth gains wealth; one who seeks learning gains learning; and likewise, whether a man or a woman, the sought-for aim is made attainable through steady devotion and disciplined hearing.

Educational Q&A

Steady practice—retaining/reciting and repeatedly listening to a sacred passage—bears fruit. The verse frames spiritual discipline (regularity and repeated hearing) as a means to attain legitimate human aims such as progeny, wealth, and learning.

Vaiśaṃpāyana concludes a preceding recitation with a phalaśruti: he states the benefits that accrue to anyone who keeps or frequently hears the text, listing common desired outcomes (son, wealth, knowledge) as results of consistent engagement with the hymn/teaching.
