Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O Sun, you are the eye of the whole world, and the inner Self of all embodied beings. You are the source from which all creatures arise, and you are the very standard of right conduct for those devoted to righteous action.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames the Sun as a moral and cosmic principle: the illuminator (world’s eye), the indwelling self of beings, the generative source of life, and the exemplar of proper conduct for those who act according to duty—linking ethical order (ācāra/dharma) with cosmic order.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses the Sun-god in a reverential hymn, acknowledging the Sun’s universal role in sustaining life and guiding righteous action, as part of a devotional or supplicatory context within the Vana Parva.
