“Therefore, let this bride attain the desire she has longed for. And you, my daughter, must act with constant vigilance on Satyavān’s path (in his life and conduct).” Thus Humat-sena grants the wished-for union, yet counsels careful, attentive guardianship of the husband’s course—an ethical reminder that fulfillment of desire must be accompanied by conscientious care and responsibility.

Educational Q&A

Even when a rightful wish is granted, one must not become careless: marital fulfillment is paired with apramāda—steady attentiveness, responsibility, and protective care in the spouse’s life-path.

Humat-sena, speaking as an elder of Satyavān’s household, consents to the bride’s desired outcome (the marriage) and immediately instructs her to remain vigilant and careful regarding Satyavān’s course of life.
