Markandeya said: After arranging the security and administration of the city of Lanka, the blessed Śrī Rāma—self-controlled and steadfast—set out surrounded by his foremost ministers. With Sītā placed in front, and accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa, Sugrīva and the other eminent Vānara leaders, along with Vibhīṣaṇa and the chief counsellors, he mounted the splendid Puṣpaka aerial chariot that moved at will. By that very chariot he again crossed the ocean, the abode of makaras, flying above the previously built causeway. Then he reached the seashore, at the place where that king had once rested.

The passage highlights dharmic kingship: even after victory, a ruler must establish security and orderly administration, act with self-restraint (jitendriya), and honor allies and counsellors—showing that power is to be governed by discipline and responsibility.
After securing Laṅkā, Rāma departs with Sītā, Lakṣmaṇa, Sugrīva, Vibhīṣaṇa, and leading ministers. They ride the wish-moving Puṣpaka-vimāna, fly above the bridge-route, cross the ocean again, and arrive at the seashore where the king had earlier rested.
