Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
इत्युक्त: स तथेत्युक्त्वा रथमास्थाय दंशित: । प्रययाविन्द्रजिद् राजंस्तूर्णमायोधनं प्रति,राजन! रावणके द्वारा ऐसी आज्ञा देनेपर इन्द्रजितने “बहुत अच्छा” कहकर पिताकी आज्ञा स्वीकार की और वह कवच बाँध रथपर बैठकर तुरंत ही संग्रामभूमिकी ओर चल दिया
ity uktaḥ sa tathety uktvā ratham āsthāya daṁśitaḥ | prayayāv indrajid rājan tūrṇam āyodhanaṁ prati ||
Markandeya said: Thus addressed, he replied, “So be it,” accepted the command, donned his armor, mounted his chariot, and—O king—Indrajit swiftly set out toward the battlefield. The passage highlights prompt obedience to a superior’s order and readiness for war, even as it foreshadows the grave moral weight carried by martial action.
