Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
ततो विश्राव्य विस्पष्टं नाम राक्षसपुड्रव: । आह्वियामास समरे लक्ष्मणं शुभलक्षणम्,तत्पश्चात् उस राक्षसराजने स्पष्टरूपसे अपने नामकी घोषणा करके शुभलक्षण लक्ष्मणको युद्धके लिये ललकारा
tato viśrāvya vispaṣṭaṁ nāma rākṣasapuṅgavaḥ | āhviyāmāsa samare lakṣmaṇaṁ śubhalakṣaṇam ||
Then the foremost of the rākṣasas, having clearly proclaimed his name aloud, challenged Lakṣmaṇa—whose marks were auspicious—to combat. The scene underscores the warrior code of open self-declaration and direct summons to battle, where courage is tested in a face-to-face encounter rather than by concealment or deceit.
