Sāvitrī-Upākhyāna: Dyumatsena’s Restoration and the Return to Kāmyaka

Conclusion

Then the monkeys who had searched in three directions returned after a full month and reported to Rama: “We have thoroughly surveyed the entire earth, girdled by the ocean; yet we have not obtained any sight of Vaidehī (Sītā), nor of Rāvaṇa.” The passage underscores the discipline of assigned duty and truthful reporting even when the outcome is disappointing, setting the stage for renewed resolve and wiser strategy.

Educational Q&A

To perform one’s assigned duty with diligence and then report the truth without distortion. Even failure in results, when honestly acknowledged, becomes the basis for better counsel, renewed effort, and righteous perseverance.

After a month-long reconnaissance, the monkey leaders return and tell Rāma that they searched the whole ocean-girdled earth but did not find any trace or sight of Sītā (Vaidehī) or Rāvaṇa.
