Thus ends the two-hundred-and-seventieth chapter of the Mahābhārata’s Vana Parva, within the Draupadī-haraṇa section, dealing with Draupadī’s words. The narrator marks the close of this unit, framing Draupadī’s speech as a morally significant testimony within the forest-exile narrative.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
As a colophon, the line does not add new doctrine; it highlights that Draupadī’s speech is the focal subject of the chapter, implicitly underscoring the ethical weight of her testimony and the importance of hearing the wronged party’s voice within dharma-discourse.
The narrator (Vaiśaṃpāyana) signals the end of Adhyāya 270 within Vana Parva, specifying that this chapter belongs to the Draupadī-haraṇa section and centers on Draupadī’s words.
