इन्द्रजिद्-लक्ष्मणयुद्धम्
Indrajit and Lakṣmaṇa: Escalation through Concealment
tato ghoratamaḥ śabdo raṇe samabhavat tadā | bhīmārjunayamān dṛṣṭvā sainyānāṃ sa-yudhiṣṭhirān |
Then, at that moment, a most dreadful uproar arose on the battlefield. Seeing Yudhiṣṭhira together with Bhīma and Arjuna, the armies burst into fearful tumult—an instinctive recognition that the righteous Pāṇḍavas had arrived in force, and that adharma would now be challenged openly in war.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how the presence of dharma-aligned leaders can shift the moral and psychological balance in conflict: righteousness, when organized and visible, unsettles forces acting from fear, aggression, or adharma.
As Yudhiṣṭhira arrives accompanied by Bhīma and Arjuna, a terrifying clamor erupts among the opposing troops on the battlefield—signaling alarm and agitation at the sight of the formidable Pāṇḍava warriors.
