Vaiśampāyana said: “Out of goodwill, I will gladly give you as much gold as you desire.” Having joined with Rukmī, Karṇa then set out and reached the Pāṇḍya mountain—an episode that underscores how gifts offered in affection and alliance-building can shape the course of journeys and political ties.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dāna offered with prīti (goodwill): generosity is not merely transactional but can create bonds, obligations, and alliances that influence later actions and outcomes.
A speaker offers to give as much gold as desired; then Karṇa, having joined with Rukmī, proceeds onward and reaches the Pāṇḍya mountain, marking a movement tied to companionship and resource support.
