Mārkaṇḍeya said: Seeing that Guha was being honored by Rudra, all the gods (the dwellers of heaven) declared, “This Guha—most excellent and most virtuous—is indeed the son of Rudra.” The passage underscores how divine recognition follows true merit and rightful lineage, and how honor offered by a great being becomes a public affirmation of worth.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Honor bestowed by a truly great authority (here Rudra) becomes a public confirmation of merit; virtue (guṇa) and rightful standing are recognized and affirmed by the wise and by the divine community.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that the gods witness Rudra honoring Guha (Kārttikeya). Moved by this sight, they proclaim Guha to be Rudra’s son and praise him as the foremost in virtues.
