viśvāmitraś ca nākaraitat karma lokahitāya vai | tasmād ṛṣiḥ kumārasya viśvāmitro 'bhavat priyaḥ ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Viśvāmitra did not regard this deed as improper; indeed, he affirmed it to be necessary for the welfare of the world. Therefore, the sage Viśvāmitra became especially dear to Kumāra (Skanda), for he upheld the larger good behind the god’s actions.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
An action should be judged by its alignment with dharma and the welfare of the world (lokahita), not merely by surface appearance; wise discernment can recognize a larger ethical purpose.
Mārkaṇḍeya explains that Viśvāmitra validated Kumāra/Skanda’s deeds as necessary for the world’s good, and because he defended their righteous purpose, Viśvāmitra became especially dear to Kumāra.
