Agni (Pāvaka)

Educational Q&A

The verse elevates Agni (Pāvaka) as a cosmic principle: lord of beings, the indwelling Self, and sustainer of the worlds—reflecting the Vedic view of fire as the mediator of sacrifice and a pillar of cosmic order.

Mārkaṇḍeya reports a traditional doctrinal assertion preserved among the twice-born in hereditary transmission: they identify Agni as supreme in governance and cosmic support, framing the discussion in authoritative lineage-based teaching.
