Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father
ततो लोकान्तकरणो दानवो दारुणाकृति: । शिलावर्षेण महता सहसा मां समावृणोत्,तत्पश्चात् लोकान्तकारी भयंकर आकृतिवाले दानवने आकर सहसा पत्थरोंकी भारी वर्षकि द्वारा मुझे आवृत कर दिया
tato lokāntakaraṇo dānavo dāruṇākṛtiḥ | śilāvarṣeṇa mahatā sahasā māṃ samāvṛṇot ||
Then a dreadful-looking Dānava, a bringer of world-ending ruin, suddenly enveloped me with a massive shower of stones. The episode underscores how overwhelming force and terror can be deployed by the unrighteous, and how steadfastness is required when confronted by violent obstruction.
वायुदेव उवाच
Adharma often manifests as sudden, overwhelming intimidation; the ethical emphasis is on maintaining resolve and clarity when confronted by violent obstruction and fear-inducing displays of power.
Vāyudeva reports that a terrifying Dānava described as world-destroying abruptly covers him with a huge barrage of stones, indicating an aggressive attempt to overpower or impede him.
