Skanda-janma: Śivā/Svāhā, Agni, and the Manifestation of Guha
Mahābhārata 3.214
गुणागुणमनासड्रमेककार्यमनन्तरम् । एतत् तद् ब्रह्मणो वृत्तमाहुरेकपदं सुखम्,जो गुणमें रहता हुआ भी गुणोंसे रहित है, जो सर्वथा संगसे रहित है तथा जो एकमात्र अन्तरात्माके द्वारा ही साध्य है, जिसकी उपलब्धिमें अविद्याके सिवा और कोई व्यवधान नहीं है, वही ब्रह्मका अद्वितीय नित्य सिद्ध पद है और वही (निरतिशय) सुख है
guṇāguṇam anāsaṅgam ekakāryam anantaram | etat tad brahmaṇo vṛttam āhur ekapadaṁ sukham ||
The hunter said: “That which abides amid the qualities yet is itself beyond qualities; which is utterly free from attachment; which is realized only through the one inner Self; and for whose attainment no obstacle exists except ignorance—this, they declare, is the very state of Brahman: the single, unsurpassed, ever-established abode, and that alone is true bliss.”
