At the proper time, his father Bṛhadaśva consecrated him to the kingship. O great king, he installed Kuvalāśva—valiant and supremely righteous—as ruler, acting in accordance with dharma and due order of succession.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Legitimate rule is grounded in dharma and proper procedure: kingship should be conferred at the right time through consecration, upon a worthy heir who is both brave and ethically upright.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that King Bṛhadaśva, at the appropriate time, performs the royal anointing and installs his son Kuvalāśva as king, praising him as a heroic and highly righteous ruler.
