Mārkaṇḍeya said: “In the Kṛta Yuga, many kinds of sacrificial rites will be performed. Brāhmaṇas will be virtuous and well-conducted, and sages—ascetics devoted to austerity—will be steadfast in tapas.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse presents the Kṛta Yuga as an age where dharma is naturally upheld: sacred rites are widely performed, Brāhmaṇas embody moral excellence, and sages are firmly established in tapas—suggesting that social and spiritual life align with righteousness without coercion.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing the characteristics of the Kṛta Yuga within a broader discourse on the ages (yugas), highlighting the prevalence of yajña and the virtuous disposition of Brāhmaṇas and ascetics.
