Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration

Mārkaṇḍeya said: “In time, by its own course, fate will again become favorable. When the Sun and the Moon, and Jupiter as well, come together in Puṣya (Tiṣya)—in the sign suited to it—then the Satya Yuga will begin. Thereafter, the social orders such as the brāhmaṇas will manifest and extend their rightful influence, and the world’s welfare will rise again. In that age, clouds will rain in due season, and the constellations will appear auspicious and radiant.”
The verse frames moral history as cyclical: when cosmic conditions realign, dharma and social stability naturally re-emerge, bringing timely rains, auspicious signs, and the welfare (abhyudaya) of the world.
Mārkaṇḍeya is describing a future turning point: a favorable shift of fate marked by an astronomical conjunction (Sun, Moon, and Jupiter in Puṣya), signaling the commencement of Satya Yuga and the restoration of orderly society and prosperity.
