अध्याय १९० — वामदेव-वाम्य-वृत्तान्तः

The Vāmadeva Horses Episode and the Ethics of Promise

यावत्‌ स भगवान ब्रह्मा न बुध्येत महातपा: । तावत्‌ त्वमिह विप्रषें विश्रब्धश्नर वै सुखम्‌,ब्रह्मर्ष! इस प्रकार मैंने तुम्हें अपने स्वरूपका उपदेश किया है, जिसका जानना देवता और असुरोंके लिये भी कठिन है। जबतक महातपस्वी भगवान्‌ ब्रह्माका जागरण न हो, तबतक तुम श्रद्धा और विश्वासपूर्वक सुखसे विचरते रहो

yāvat sa bhagavān brahmā na budhyeta mahātapāḥ | tāvat tvam iha viprarṣe viśrabdhaś cara vai sukham ||

The Deity said: “So long as that blessed Brahmā, the great ascetic, has not yet awakened to awareness, remain here, O brahmarṣi—move about at ease, free from fear and doubt, with trust and confidence.” In context, the speaker grants the sage a protected interval: until the higher cosmic authority ‘awakens’ and the next phase of events begins, the listener is instructed to dwell calmly, embodying steadiness and faith rather than anxiety.
