Even Maghavan, the lord of the gods, mounted his brilliantly radiant chariot and spoke: “Phalguna, you must journey to Svarga.” In the narrative context, Indra’s command signals a divinely sanctioned training and testing of Arjuna—an ethical preparation for the larger dharmic struggle ahead, where power must be earned through discipline and right purpose rather than mere ambition.
अजुन उवाच
Authority and power are to be approached through disciplined obedience to dharmic purpose. Indra’s directive frames Arjuna’s ascent not as indulgence but as a sanctioned step in ethical preparation—training that must serve righteous ends.
Indra, identified by epithets Maghavan and Deveśa, mounts his splendid chariot and instructs Arjuna (Phalguna) that he must travel to Svarga, initiating Arjuna’s celestial journey and the next phase of his preparation.
