Adhyāya 168: Arjuna’s counters to māyā-rains and the onset of darkness

Nivātakavaca engagement

Arjuna said: “I wish to know the divine weapons—whatever ones exist among the gods.” Hearing this, the Blessed Lord Tryambaka (Śiva) replied to me, “I grant them.” In the narrative setting, Arjuna’s request is not for personal vanity but for the disciplined acquisition of divine means to uphold dharma in the coming conflict; devotion and humility precede power, and power is framed as a responsibility rather than a possession.
