Chapter 157: Draupadi’s request, Bhima’s ascent, and the combat with Maniman

Vaiśampāyana said: “O Pārtha, having passed beyond that (place/āśrama), you should go to the hermitage of Ārṣiṣeṇa and dwell there. Then, O son of Kuntī, you will behold the abode of Dhanada (Kubera).”
The verse emphasizes disciplined progression on a sacred journey: one should move beyond prior stations, reside in a sage’s hermitage for purification and guidance, and only then become fit to behold a divine realm—suggesting that spiritual access is earned through restraint, right conduct, and proper mentorship.
Vaiśampāyana instructs Arjuna (addressed as Pārtha/Kaunteya) to pass on from the current location, stay at the hermitage of the sage Ārṣiṣeṇa, and thereafter he will see the residence of Dhanada, i.e., Kubera.
