Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path

Vaiśampāyana said: Hearing that terrifying, thunderous sound—like the crushing blow of a thunderbolt, as if a mighty clap had been struck—lions that had been sleeping in mountain caves were roused and began to roar aloud. The scene underscores how a single violent disturbance in nature can awaken even the most dormant forces, mirroring how upheaval in human affairs can stir latent power and fear.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how intense, disruptive force (symbolized by a thunderbolt-like sound) can awaken dormant energies and provoke powerful reactions—an ethical reminder that actions creating turmoil can have wide, uncontrollable consequences.

A tremendous, thunderbolt-like crashing sound is heard on the mountain; even lions sleeping in mountain caves are startled awake and roar loudly in response.
