Gandhamādana-praveśa and the Sudden Storm (गन्धमादनप्रवेशः — चण्डवातवर्षवर्णनम्)
vaiśampāyana uvāca: śrutvā tu tāṁ kathāṁ sarve pāṇḍavā janamejaya | lomaśādeśitena āśu pathā jagmuḥ prahṛṣṭāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: O Janamejaya, having heard that account, all the Pāṇḍavas became greatly delighted; and, following the route promptly indicated by the sage Lomaśa, they set out swiftly, their hearts uplifted. The passage underscores how wise guidance and attentive listening can turn resolve into right action on a difficult journey.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the value of śravaṇa (attentive listening) and the practical importance of following competent, dharmic guidance: hearing a meaningful account brings clarity and encouragement, and a sage’s direction helps one proceed rightly and efficiently.
After hearing the preceding story, the Pāṇḍavas become pleased and energized; they then move forward quickly on the route pointed out by the sage Lomaśa, as Vaiśampāyana narrates this to King Janamejaya.
