Gandhamādana-praveśa and the Sudden Storm (गन्धमादनप्रवेशः — चण्डवातवर्षवर्णनम्)
Lomaśa uvāca: tato dṛṣṭvā mahātmānaṁ śrutvā cāmntraya cāmarāḥ | pitāmahaṁ puraskṛtya jagmur devā yathāgatam ||
Lomaśa said: Then, having beheld that great-souled Lord and having heard His glory, the gods—after receiving His permission—set Brahmā, the Grandfather, at their head and departed, returning just as they had come. The passage underscores reverent conduct: even the gods act with humility, seek consent, and honor rightful leadership before withdrawing.
Respect for rightful authority and dharmic protocol: even divine beings seek permission, honor elders/leaders (Brahmā as Pitāmaha), and withdraw without arrogance after receiving instruction.
After meeting the Supreme Lord (contextually Viṣṇu in Varāha form), the gods listen to His greatness, receive His leave, place Brahmā at the forefront, and return to their abode in the same orderly manner as they arrived.
