Arrogance, Boons, and Nimitta
एष रैभ्यो महावीर्य: पुत्रो चास्य तथाविधौ । त॑ यथा पुत्र नाभ्येषि तथा कुर्यास्त्वतन्द्रित:,ये रैभ्यमुनि महान् शक्तिशाली हैं। इनके दोनों पुत्र भी इन्हींके समान हैं। बेटा! तुम उन रैभ्यमुनिके पास कदापि न जाना और आलस्य छोड़कर इसके लिये सदा प्रयत्नशील रहना
eṣa raibhyo mahāvīryaḥ putro cāsya tathāvidhau | taṁ yathā putra nābhyeṣi tathā kuryāstv atandritaḥ ||
Bharadvāja said: “This Raibhya is a man of great power, and his sons too are of the same formidable kind. Therefore, my son, do not go near the sage Raibhya; remain vigilant and, casting off indolence, strive constantly to act in a way that keeps you away from him.”
भरद्वाज उवाच
One should recognize potentially harmful associations and avoid them; ethical living includes vigilance and sustained effort (atandrita) rather than negligence or laziness.
Bharadvāja identifies the sage Raibhya as extraordinarily powerful and warns his son not to approach him, urging constant alertness and disciplined effort to keep away from that danger.
