चतुर्दशीमष्टमीं च राम॑ पश्यन्ति तापसा: | अस्यां रात्र्यां व्यतीतायां भवित्री श्वश्चतुर्दशी,अकृतव्रणने कहा--राजन! आत्मज्ञानी परशुरामजीको पहले ही यह ज्ञात हो गया था कि आप आ रहे हैं। आपपर उनका बहुत प्रेम है, अतः वे शीघ्र ही आपको दर्शन देंगे। ये तपस्वीलोग प्रत्येक चतुर्दशी और अष्टमीको परशुरामजीका दर्शन करते हैं। आजकी रात बीत जानेपर कल सबेरे चतुर्दशी हो जायगी

Transliteration

caturdaśīm aṣṭamīṃ ca rāma paśyanti tāpasāḥ | asyāṃ rātryāṃ vyatītāyāṃ bhavitrī śvaś caturdaśī ||

Translation

Akṛtavraṇa said: “O Rāma, these ascetics behold Paraśurāma on every fourteenth lunar day and on the eighth. When this night has passed, tomorrow morning will be the fourteenth (caturdaśī).”
