Bhāgīratha’s Tapas and the Petition to Gaṅgā (गङ्गावतरण-प्रसङ्गः)
अंशुमानेवमुक्तस्तु सगरेण महात्मना | जगाम दु:खात् तं देशं यत्र वै दारिता मही,महात्मा सगरके ऐसा कहनेपर अंशुमान् बड़े दुःखसे उस स्थानपर गये जहाँ पृथ्वी विदीर्ण की गयी थी
Aṁśumān evam uktaḥ tu Sagareṇa mahātmanā | jagāma duḥkhāt taṁ deśaṁ yatra vai dāritā mahī ||
Thus addressed by the great-souled Sagara, Aṁśumān—heavy with sorrow—went to that very place where the earth had been torn open. The verse underscores dutiful obedience to an elder’s command and the resolve to pursue a difficult task despite grief.
