Vaiśampāyana said: There, those heroic men—active in their proper roles and now free from anger—both the Pāṇḍavas and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, had taken their own appointed stations. After that, the wise Kuru king Yudhiṣṭhira, surrounded by the gods and hearing his own praise from the mouths of great seers, went together with Dharma to that region where those lion-like heroes—the valiant Pāṇḍavas and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra—having abandoned wrath, dwelt joyfully each in his own place.

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes krodha-tyāga—renouncing anger and resentment—as a condition for true peace and rightful placement. Even former enemies (Pāṇḍavas and Dhārtarāṣṭras) are shown dwelling joyfully in their allotted stations once wrath is abandoned, underscoring a dharmic ideal of reconciliation beyond conflict.

Vaiśampāyana describes a heavenly scene: the Pāṇḍavas and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra have already taken their respective places, free from anger. Then Yudhiṣṭhira, accompanied by Dharma and surrounded by gods, hears praise from great seers and proceeds to the region where these heroes dwell contentedly.
