Vaiśampāyana said: “O king, O greatly wise one—my son—I am deeply pleased with you: with your devotion toward me, your truth-speaking, your forbearance, and your self-restraint.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse commends foundational dharmic virtues—devotion to the worthy, truthfulness in speech, forgiveness/forbearance, and restraint of the senses—as qualities that make a person truly admirable and spiritually fit.
The speaker, Vaiśampāyana, addresses a king affectionately as “son” and expresses strong approval, explicitly listing the king’s virtues (devotion, truthful speech, patience, and self-control) as the reasons for his satisfaction.
