Saṃsāra-Gahana Allegory: The Brāhmaṇa in the Forest and Well (संसारगहन-आख्यान)
स तेषां छिद्रमन्विच्छन् प्रद्गुतो भयपीडित:
sa teṣāṁ chidram anvicchan pradguto bhayapīḍitaḥ
Vidura says: “Driven by fear and inwardly agitated, he kept searching for a flaw—an opening—in them, looking for some vulnerable point to exploit.”
विदुर उवाच
Fear-driven thinking tends to become fault-finding and opportunistic—seeking ‘chidra’ (a gap) in others rather than pursuing dharma. The verse highlights how inner agitation can distort judgment and ethics.
Vidura describes a person (contextually, an adversarial figure) who, under the pressure of fear, searches for weaknesses in others—trying to find an opening to act against them.
