गान्धारी-प्रशमनम् — Pacification of Gāndhārī and Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel at Hāstinapura
एवमुक्तस्तु कृष्णेन धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिर:
evam uktas tu kṛṣṇena dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ
Thus addressed by Kṛṣṇa, King Yudhiṣṭhira—the very embodiment of dharma—responded in the wake of counsel given amid the moral strain of war.
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames ethical leadership as responsive to wise counsel: Yudhiṣṭhira, identified as Dharmarāja, is shown acting from a dharma-centered identity even when guided by Kṛṣṇa amid the pressures and consequences of war.
Kṛṣṇa has just spoken to Yudhiṣṭhira; the verse marks the transition to Yudhiṣṭhira’s reply, highlighting him by his epithet Dharmarāja to signal that his response will be grounded in righteousness.
