Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, at that time they had arranged in abundance many kinds of gifts and supplies, prepared across various regions, in order to honor and care for the weary, the sick, children, and the aged. Those provisions were kept ready in these lands, O descendant of Bharata, and food had been set out on all sides for the sake of the hungry.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma expressed as compassionate hospitality: preparing resources in advance to honor and support the vulnerable—especially the hungry, the sick, children, and the elderly—so that need is met promptly and respectfully.
Vaiśampāyana describes organized preparations made across different regions: supplies and gifts are kept ready, and food is arranged everywhere, so that weary travelers and those in distress can be received with honor and fed.
