Śalya–Bhīma Gadā-saṃnipāta and Śalya’s Bāṇa-jāla against Yudhiṣṭhira

Book 9, Chapter 11

dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ kṛpaḥ kruddho bāṇavarṣair apīḍayat | draupadeyāṃś ca śakunir yamau ca drauṇir abhyayāt ||

Sañjaya said: Enraged, Kṛpa assailed Dhṛṣṭadyumna, tormenting him with a shower of arrows. Śakuni advanced against the sons of Draupadī, while Droṇa’s son (Aśvatthāman) charged at the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva. The scene underscores how wrath and rivalry drive the combatants to target key leaders and heirs, intensifying the moral and emotional cost of the war.
